Cavemen!!!

On the episode of cavemen, Cash was the substitute teacher. When he found out that the mascot was a caveman, do you feel that Cash was taking the situation with the mascot thing too seriously? If so, why? Should the principal have acted more upon his request to abolish the tradition? http://abc.go.com/fallpreview/cavemen/

I do think Cash took the mascot issue to seriously. I do not understand why people get offended by mascots. If anything, I would be honored if I was made a mascot. Mascots are supposed to be fierce and scare your competition. Like in the case of University of Illinois, they had to take away their mascot because people were offended due to the fact that he is an Indian. I don't believe that it is a sign of disgrace at all. I feel that mascots are a sign of honor.

I agree with boomer988. Mascots like he said are suspose to distill fear in an opponent. Most offensive mascots are the scary ones and if everyone is going to take offense by them, pretty they will have to name teams after candy or like drinks. How scary is that i dont think a team you are about to play will take u seriously and I personally would not like telling people i played for like the "lollipops." People need to relax on the topic mascots and just pay attention to the sport.

I also think that Cash overreacted and that he could have taken the situation less seriously. I think that he thought that they were trying to make fun of him but he didnt understand that that mascot had been there for a long time and it wasnt going to change. Yes the principle could have acted differently toward Cash. She could of possibly postponed the parade or told him not to come. But mascots are overrated as well because it doesnt even matter what the mascot is if the team or school is good.

I personally don’t think Cash overreacted or took the mascot thing too seriously. That is an offence to him since HE IS a caveman. It’s like why were having problems with the Indians from University of Illinois' mascot. Cash was defending his own background since we assume things about cavemen that aren’t real and he was trying to show that what we think of them is wrong. I think the principal did a very crappy job of listening to Cash since he was offended and she should have done more about it. She is the principal of the school! You can always get another mascot; it isn’t that hard just have the children vote on it.

I think there is one main thing wrong with the school's mascot that pushes it over the edge and gives cash the right to be upset. Its one thing to dress the caveman up like they looked 10,000 years ago and have him only make noises like UGH UGH. But what would really tick me off more than anything if I was cash is the fact that they refer to them as "savages". It is a derogitory term used to describe him just as we have derogitory terms used to describe races. However, I think it is much worse because of its meaning, www.dictionary.reference.com/browse/savage 2. uncivilized; barbarous: 4. unpolished; rude: 10. a member of a preliterate society. This is a horrible way to be described and would upset me much more than any derogitory comment said about my race.

I don't think Cash took the mascot thing to far. It offend him, and he tried to do something about it, but in the end his voice just was not heard. It was the principle's responsibility to make sure something was done about it, and she did nothing. I know that I personally, would be upset if someone did not pay attention to an issue that I was having.
