Risky Blogging

We've all heard story after story about people getting in trouble for things they have put online. People have gotten in trouble in schools, jobs, sports, activities, etc. A lot of things people put online are just putting up them up there without thinking that any harm will come to them.

I can understand why bosses and schools punish people for pictures they put on websites like facebook and MySpace, but should people really get in trouble for posting things up, because its just someone typing their thoughts and ideas? Do you think that people should be allowed to type whatever they want to type online? In today's society, a lot of things are done over the computer. Should a person be based on their character, or what they once posted on the internet?

I think people should be able to post whatever they want but they should be cautious about certain things they post that may reveal their identity

Aren't your rights being taken away from you when you are punished for your opinion or your personal life? If you are punished at your job because of something you do outside of there it is unfair because as long as it doesn't harm anyone or effect your work there should be no reason for punishment. Now if you are a student who is under age or even of age there can be consequences because most of the time there is underlying rules and regulations you have signed or agreed to before attending school. It is possible though for the internet to cause conflict because people are able to speak so freely, that is where punishment can arise. People disagree all the time but sometimes it can end up in violence because of your ability to speak so freely.

I dont think people should get in trouble for posting their personal lives on the internet via facebook or myspace. But, if your school, company, or job is one that doesnt promote the things that you are putting online then it is probably not the best idea to put innappropriate things on there. I think that people should be able to post whatever they want online, but because much of the world is on the internet today it is hard for anyone not to see it and to have you reported to or for something. I think that people base people's personalities by how they act in person, but if someone sees something online it can change their outlook of that person.
